The Altiplano (Spanish for high plain), in
central South America, where the Andes are at their widest, is the most
extensive area of high plateau on earth outside of Tibet. Lake Titicaca is its
most known geographical feature.
The Altiplano is an area of inland drainage
(endorheism) lying in the central Andes, occupying parts of Chile, Argentina,
Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. Its height averages about 3,300 meters (11,000
feet), somewhat less than that of Tibet. Unlike the Tibetan Plateau, however,
the Altiplano is dominated by massive active volcanoes of the Central Volcanic
Zone to the west. The Atacama Desert, the driest area on the whole planet, lies
to the southwest of the Altiplano. In contrast, to the east lies the humid
Amazon Rainforest.
At the end of the Pleistocene epoch, the
whole extent of the Altiplano was covered by a vast lake, Ballivián, the
present remnants of which are Lake Titicaca, straddling the Peru/Bolivia
border, and Poopó, a salt lake that extends south of Oruro, Bolivia. Salar de
Uyuni, locally known as "Salar de Tunupa", as well as Salar de
Coipasaare two large dry salt flats formed as well after the

The salar de Uyuni, or salt flat, will
provide you with an unforgettable visual experience as well as one album of
photographs friends will envy you for.
However,the experience is not for those who
love luxury, pampering or comfortable temperatures. Suffice to say that god did
not design the huge and barren salar, located at 3,660 meters above sea level,
with the tourist in mind, and that in the eons since creation humanity has done
little to improve on the Creator´s work. So get ready for a stunning visual

Day 1.-San Pedro Atacama - Green Lagoon -Red Lagoon- Siloli
desert- San Juan .

Now in Bolivia, On the way we will cross the ‘Rocks of Dali,’ so named
because the wind-sculptured forms suggest the creations of the famous Spanish
surrealist painter, are found in this and some other valleys
Siloli Desert, whose bizarre wind-carved
rock formations sometimes appear to defy gravity.
Today will be a
tour along lagoons, whose waters are colored deep shades of red, blue and
even white. The most famous is Laguna Colorada, whose waters are made a deep
red by the flagellate algae Dunaliellasalina and a high ocher level. The lake
receives its water from hot springs and runoff from wetlands. On an island of
borax, rock and excrement in the middle of the lake, the birds have found a
refuge protected from foxes and warmed year-round by thermal waters.’
The desert is surrounded by volcanoes which
provide a dramatic spectacle. As the light plays on them, the ancient hardened
lava flows sometimes resemble water flowing down their flanks. Very seldom in

Day 2
.- San Juan- Uyuni Salt flats- Isla
Incahuasi.
Today You will
visit "islaIncahuasi. Despite the island’s inhospitability, a unique
fauna, including viscachas (long-tailed Andean rabbits), colibris (green
hummingbirds which feed off of the giant cacti and which tire quickly in the
thin air), as well as lizards and insects survive here.
Huge cacti, reaching seven or eight meters
in height, also grow on the island. In the afternoon we will cross the salt
flats, till we will arrive to .Hotel Palacio de sal .B.L.D.
Day 3.- Salt flats-
ThunupaVolcanoe.- Cokesa Caves.
Considered as the
world largest deposit of salt, Uyuni lies majestically at a height of 3600 metersa.s.l. This
part of the Altiplano has been considered as the richest deposit of
lithium in the world.
With a surface of nearly 12.000 square kilometres, this salt flat is enormous
and stunning to the visitor. We have our private four-wheel drive car, which
take us to ascend by car TunuphaVolcanoe. Only to 4000 Mts. From here we have
an spectacular vieau of the salt flats, also the visit to Cokesa caves an
old archeological site.
In the afternoon, we
will arrive to Uyuni City and the train cementery. At the end of the
day flight to La Paz
